Something similar happened to me a few days ago: I was in a bank doing my internship where I had a red pen (with blue ink) and the cashier took it and i had to ask it back. I was so embarrased as I felt bad for asking the cashier ( higher authority) for giving me back my pen where I could have just ignored it. 😅😅😅
