I lived a block away from that high school in Tacoma when they were filming this movie. I could look out of my bedroom window and see them filming this scene from my apartment on the 14th floor. I had no idea who any of the actors were at the time so I thought it was a low-budget indie film.

I wonder if it's an aspect ratio thing. Idk about with movies, but there was a time in television when we were switching from standard format to widescreen format that they would film in wide screen, but all the shots were framed to be in standard. I see it a lot in the later seasons of Buffy The Vampire Slayer, where you can tell you're seeing stuff not intended to make it to TV, like actors standing to one side not really emoting in a way that makes sense for the scene, cuz all you would have scene on TV was part of their shoulder or something.

The first time I noticed a mess up was in Braveheart. An English soldier is swinging his sword at 1/8th speed, just going through the motions

Now, was it an error or was it a student that decided the coach deserved that arrow to the butt and she'd take her time getting help? Just something to think about.
