The day is focused on draining and installing the septic system and pump infrastructure that will eventually allow toilets, sinks, and full water flow throughout the home. With Drew’s dad, we also tackle a massive upgrade to the water filtration system inside the pump house. From borehole water being pumped into elevated tanks, to oxidation, sediment settling, multi-stage filtration (20 micron, 5 micron, 1 micron), and iron removal systems—this episode breaks down the full journey of how raw groundwater becomes clean, usable home water. But of course, nothing goes exactly to plan... missing O-rings, unexpected leaks, pressure issues, and a full plumbing store rebuild moment test our theory (and patience). But after troubleshooting, reassembly, and a full system flush, water finally flows through the house filtration line for the first time 🤗 Alongside the technical chaos, there’s also a softer side of life at the mill—cats exploring their cat door for the very first time, irrigation being installed for struggling plants, and a surprise break from construction for a family horseback riding adventure along the stunning Portuguese cliffs! By the end of the episode, a few milestones are checked off the to-do list, and with the water system nearly complete and the house edging closer to habitation readiness, the reality of moving in finally feels CLOSE 🙏 This is a true mix of off-grid engineering, family teamwork, emotional milestones, and the unpredictable beauty of building a life from the ground up ❤️ ► Subscribe for a new video every single Sunday: https://bit.ly/3fW095N ► Sign up for our weekly(ish) Newsletter: http://eepurl.com/bn13VD Where we get our music 🎶: http://epidemicsound.com/referral/x7uwj3 ► JOIN US ON OUR SOCIALS: https://www.instagram.com/mrandmrsadventure https://www.instagram.com/heradventure FaceBook: https://www.facebook.com/mrmrsadventure/ TikTik: https://www.tiktok.com/@mrandmrsadventure Our blog: http://www.mrandmrsadventure.com Our Amazon Affiliate Shop organized all nice for ya: https://www.amazon.com/shop/mrandmrsadventure ► CAMERA GEAR: ORIGINAL VLOGGING CAMERA: https://amzn.to/2DZo3M2 UPGRADED VLOGGING CAMERA: https://amzn.to/3GmGqJm MAIN VLOGGING LENS: https://amzn.to/40ITvoo GOPRO: https://amzn.to/40ITDnS DRONE: https://amzn.to/3nF5THl ALL OTHER PHOTO/VIDEO GEAR: https://amzn.to/2PzrwSJIs As always, we are so grateful to have you joining us on our journey here and we appreciate all your support ♡ #offgrid #dreamhome #Portugal

My wife and I have been watching you two for years — you’ve actually become part of our Sunday morning ritual. We sit down with our coffee, take a deep, cleansing breath, and then catch up on whatever you’ve been up to that week. We cheer you on from Rhode Island as we watch you build this beautiful life in Portugal. Last October, we purchased our dream home in Penacova, near Coimbra, but we won’t be able to move in permanently until next June, when our son graduates from high school. Thank you for helping us keep the dream alive while we wait. Your videos make Portugal feel a little closer every week.
We miss you Tom ❤️ 😭
Love when Drew's parents are there to assist ! They are the best!
Everything looks great. And once again. Drew’s parents….every kids dream parents. Koodos to Dad for feeling the fear and doing it anyway. Great job. Views were amazing. And Moms dream of being back on a horse. What a gift
Horseback riding, the LAST tile, water filtration solutions AND crossing items off the list... I'd say this was a very happy episode 🤗 And don't forget, taking care of your health just got easier, thanks to our sponsor Zocdoc — start here at: /adventure xx
Every step brings you guys that much closer to moving in which will be happening soon. 🤗🤗 Big shout out to Drew’s Mom and Dad for all the help. They’re amazing! ♥️🇨🇦
Your home is looking gorgeous!❤
Love what you did with Tom's resting place. Glad the kitties had closure. You seem so close to moving in :)
Well done you all! ❤
you should mark the breakers in the pump house named after their function (in the mill as well)
Glad you were able to do fun things with Drew’s parents before they left.
Tom's memorial is perfect. I miss him too. Thank for showing the cat grass is growing. Every bit of this video was so good. Loved the visuals (from a safe couch )of the horseback ride along the cliffs. Drew's parents are THE BEST!
I have the same water system as you and I can’t say enough about how good it is. Wonderful water now.
I'm looking forward to the day when you have that habitation license. Your landlords/government of Portugal must now see your videos to verify those requirements needed. Please let them okay all your years of hard work and compliance.
Congratulations on having the last tile set and your water system set up!🎉
I saw one comment suggesting that you keep spare parts for the O-rings. Many manufacturers recommend replacing O-rings in the filter housings after each filter change (that's for you to determine). But you definitely want to have spares on-hand before you do a filter change. Also, check with the manufacture of any ultraviolet system that you plan to install. Orientation of the lamp housing can be very important. You definitely want to maximize contact time of the water movement in the treatment chamber to be as effective as possible. In addition, install a switch and hour meter to turn the lamp off when not in use and log the elapse hours to extend time between lamp changes.
❤❤ Happy Sunday❤ We love every vlog. That transformation is just incredible now. We went back and watched one of the first videos of the interior the other day and where you come from is amazing.❤❤
It's been an interesting experience watching your adventures go from Van life to building your Water Mill from a Water Mill to a HOME. So sorry about Tom. How precious to see the other two cats visit his resting area. I love the heart shaped rock.
Thank you for sharing. Very nice to see your parents help out and enjoy the local beauty.
Another step forward in the build process. The tickboxes are filling up now well done 👍 😊😊
