1. Revive an old and loved game that could definitely be successful with modest expectations 2. Dump millions into it expecting impossible results 3. See it as unprofitable and abandon it again

That's one of the reasons they hate indie games. It exposes that you don't need the GDP of a small country to make a good game. I imagine 70% of that money is going to the people at the top.

It's absolutely baffling that videogame publishers think "bigger budget = bigger profits". Especially when literally every other entertainment industry has proven that it's hardly ever true
