Story verified through my interview with Craig Trojacek, Public Information Officer with the Fort Worth Fire Department. Thank you, Craig π A few special details about Tom and Jake: After firefighters found Jake, the Fort Worth Fire Departmentβs H.O.P.E. Team (Home, Outreach, Prevention, and Education) began searching for Tom. They didnβt just want to make sure Jake was safe, they wanted to make sure Tom was safe too. And after Jakeβs story started spreading, people across the community began asking how they could help. Thatβs when Operation Texas Strong stepped in and helped give Tom something he hadnβt had in nearly two years: a place to call home. Tom wrote in his letter that he was going back into a βheartless world.β But what happened next told a different story. Also, an important note from FWFD: Jakeβs story worked out this time, but fire stations are not animal drop-off locations. If youβre ever unable to care for a pet, please contact local animal shelters, rescues, or animal services so they can provide the proper help. For now, Jake is staying with the Fort Worth Fire Department, where heβs being loved on every day. And theyβre hoping that when Tom is healthy and ready, they can plan a reunion π«β€οΈβ€οΈ (πΈ via: Glen E. Ellman/FWFD | @stevehartmancbs / Steve Hartman, CBS News | Lauren Przybyl/FOX 4 KDFW )

I just want to say that is petty bright for 3am
a veteran should never be homeless in any country they were in service for. they worked one of the hardest jobs for their country and don't even get enough to live after they leave
Not all hope is lost
So cute. And people think pitbulls are bad dogs. Its not the dog, its the person who trains them
When you click the like button it turns into a paw lol that's cute
I will never understand pitbull hate, they're only as aggressive as they're conditioned to be, and aggression is not their nature. They are a highly intelligent breed, you can't treat them like a normal dog. If all they know is hostility, they're going to reflect that. Every pitbull I've ever met and had was an absolute sweetheart, they're fiercely loyal and protective of their family, especially babies. Even the "aggressive" ones, they just need love and time to heal just like anyone who's suffered trauma
A heartwarming story . I love it . God bless you all .β€π
Its never easy to part with a loved one...even when you have no choice. Its amazing how the community came together
Sweetest shit iβve heard all day
π imma cry now! That is so sweet of all of them!
The strength it must hat taken that man to leave his pup π’
I hope everybody enjoyed their feel good vibes from this story. On the other hand, I need to point out that in all of the comments nobody mentioned how horrible this country is for allowing this to happen. The citizens of America are suffering existential loss because our everyday system gives us no options for survival. Criminalizing and punishing poor people is not acceptable. Why do people have to help him out of the goodness of their heart? Why canβt we just have a country that doesnβt βunaliveβ old and poor people? So while this is a beautiful story. The fact that an old poor guy was made homeless by a landlord because of a perfectly reasonable dog is unconscionable and inhuman. The old man had no survival options left so he prioritized his dog over himself. This is wrong and nobody can tell me otherwise. This is the country we live in. This is America.
A warrior going homeless in a nation he served.
I keep forgetting how good people are because of all the terrible shit I see on the news. God bless that man and those firefighters.
The worst thing we can do here is idolize this situation. It is a warning of a failed society who has failed this man and his dog.
"if you really care about babies, please help my baby" hits hard
This is the best news. Many blessings for all involved π
GREATEST STORY EVER!!!!!!β€
