For the first leg of this 22 hour Air India journey, I flew from Bengaluru to Delhi and, of course, spent most of the flight focused on the food. From comforting khichdi and aaloo sabzi to a surprisingly enjoyable chicken stew with vermicelli upma, this flight had a few pleasant surprises along the way. Not everything was perfect though. My homemade kaada for a scratchy throat turned into an unexpected disappointment, the legroom left a lot to be desired, and one dessert was far sweeter than I would have liked. Thankfully, a fellow passenger stepped in with some delicious Mysore Pak to save the day. To top it all off, we landed in Delhi a full 40 minutes early. Not a bad start to a very long journey ahead. Part 2 takes us from Delhi to Vienna.
