Little celtic myth lesson for ya here: The Kelpie is a creature of irish and scottish myth, it is a fey or demon that assumes the shape of a horse, it lures people in and gets them to ride on its back, once they do, the kelpie will run towards the lake it is living by and drown the person. This is a weridly common myth that shows up all over europe, in Denmark they have "Bækhesten" for instance, literally meaning the bog horse. And in other places the "water horse" is a common myth such as the hippocampi of greek myth. Gonna add some more, the chupacabra is a more "modern legend" it is called the goat sucker, and it is said to suck the blood out of goats. Now Quetzalcoatl, this is a big one, that is very literally a god, it is was the main diety worshipped by the aztecs, it is known as the "feathered serpent" which is a direct translation of its name, and it is the god of wind, blood as well as art and intelligence & wisdom, quite the portfolio for a big old snake

Let’s vote on what Wali will forget today: 1.) core gameplay mechanic 2.) upgrade path 3.) a hidden/obscure feature 4.) an important part of story dialogue 5.) all of the above Edit: this is purely out of love for our boy Wali.

Oh wow this has come so far from the game jam version. To think all of this vame from the prompt "Built to Scale". Wich considering the other games in the jam this was by far the most unique after "A Little To the Left"

All the fish, mythology, and history facts in this game are so interesting! Shame a lot went over wali’s head tho, he was meeting so many monsters from folklore and was just like “that’s weird it”, which was extremely entertaining to watch lol

Not so fun fact, European eels are critically endangered due to both habitat disruption and overfishing of the young eels. An actual fun fact is that Bunyips are an Aussie mythical creature, based on Aboriginal (Indigenous) Australian Mythology, specifically tribes of the southeast of the mainland. They are portrayed as everything from an oversized kangaroo to a big horse, to a hippo-like creature to a big cat or dog. Typically with long hair or long plants growing into a mane and preying on humans around watering holes, billabongs, swamps and wetlands. It’s a very broad spectrum of characterisation and each tribe has their own variants on what it looks or acts like. And another piece of knowledge I wanna dump is that dimetrodons, a type of dinosaur, were actually land dwelling animals, not water dwelling like once thought. Though, they did live in wetlands and swamps, they didn’t live underwater and just hunted in the water.

Kelpies are a welsh version of sirens. Often depicted as horses but they can shift into other forms. They lure humans onto their backs and the humans become stuck, the kelpies will drag their victims to the bottom of the ocean to drowned and eat.
