I speak from experience on number 1. (As an American). On my recent trip to Rome, the EU customs system meant 2 hours of lines after the passport registration. My fingers were sweaty, and it didn’t work so I had to go thru another 3 hours. I love Rome, but the EU system is in need of some fixes
