Some people were taught to love through strength instead of softness. The feeling was always there, even when the words were not.
"He had to know, right?" That last word came with an amount of feelings that hit hard.
Ed OβNeil has always been underrated as an actor.
The low growl when he says βforget about herβ really cut deep.
The fact that his Dad sat with him at 2am is more that some people in real life get even tho his dad was hard on him, he still loved him
One of the most beautiful dialogues in TV history, revealing the deep hearts of men and what it can be like to have to be strong and feel so much
The craziest thing is how many of us feel this same way. You show emotion and suddenly you're a lesser being, so can't do that; gotta stay strong and be tough...
In order to act you have to have a source to draw from. Yeah this came from the heart
He broke his collarbone after scoring 4 TDs in one game
Realizing dad was only tough because the world was that much tougher is the hardest lesson ive ever had to learn.

There is always powerful moments in acting. This is one of them...Wow!
I had the same thing at my grandfather's funeral, I didn't shed a single tear, but as soon as I found a quiet corner, the tears immediately started flowing like a river.π’π’π’
This scene was so sad. My father was strong, but gentle. He was blue collar railroad worker. My mother loved him so much she loved his gentleness because she grew up in orphanage unloved. He was principled but also kind, generous, and loving. He told me he was proud of me and that he loved me. FATHERS tell your children this...it means the world to them. My father showed me macho and being aggressive isn't being a man. Being a man, is being responsible for yourself, taking accountability, taking care of others, keeping your word, helping others when they are down, keeping a cool head and not letting others control your actions. My father was my Yoda and sad that some men don't get this. Also, children is you have a good father tell him you love him...it means the world to fathers.
Damn Ed is throwing straight heat in this monologue
Hits way closer than most will admit
That character is in more pain and turmoil than anyone could ever understand
