Bruce got it up on the axle stands and then the following day he looked underneath and noticed a gaping hole , suspension and brakes need replacing and an oil leak. He then cleared the EML and contacted you guys. What a legend 🤣

I've had mine for nearly 20 years too. You have everything you need thanks to Bruce to be able to look after the car well. The rear shocks have air bags, which do actually control the ride height. The air pump is standard Carlton (at least on those that were load levelling). The pumps do corrode internally (white powder). The level sensor is on the nearside rear. Again its standard on load levelling carltons, but has a lotus specific arm. The rear shocks are specific to the Lotus, but the load levelling estate ones will work. Rust is standard 90s Vauxhall, they all have it! They also tend to tear the bodywork due to the twisting from all the torque. There is also a complex software set up on the boost control side, which lowers the available boost after a period of time driving, but more interestingly will allow you access to an additional 0.4bar of boost for a brief period if you know how to trigger it. Be careful with your plans to ‘make it drive a bit more modern’ you risk ruining the character of the car. Part of the charm of owning a classic car is when you get in it, it takes you back to another time. If you make it drive like any modern car, you will lose that.
You have to remember that at over 200k miles and the fact she's 33 odd years old - She's in great shape I say. A good fabricator and welder will have her 100% solid and rust free in a week or so. Undersealed properly and she'll be right for years and years to come. Alex - for all us millenials and beyond who lust(ed) after the Lotus Carlton, please take care of her and love her the same as you do your wife and daughter. Congratulations!
