I was also monitoring my blood sugar from my 2nd trimester till I had them, but I was not diagnosed with gestational diabetes. They keep eyes on gestational diabetes here in the US because if proper care is not taken, the diabetes becomes permanent even after the baby is born. Also, they want to ensure that your baby is perfect when he comes. I am a registered nurse here. So, I'll advise that you keep watching what you eat. You will be fine. Baby will also be fine. I had gestational diabetes too for my second baby and he is a boy. Mine got to the point that diet was not enough. In addition to poking myself 4 times a day for a blood test I had to be injecting insulin before every meal(3times a day) Everything ended as soon as I had my baby. So keep hope alive baby is coming out strong. This is one of those pregnancy realities that women face. God's Grace dear.
