Oregon is trying to stop us from raising our own food. No chickens, eggs, beef, anything for food. They are trying to take away water for home gardens, and farmers market gardens. Nutty politicians.
I've been living on the Medittereanean coast of Spain from LA for a decade now, and the food here at the grocery stores is excellent quality and not expensive. I bought a plastic carton of 25 fresh strawberries for 2.75€ as an example.
I live on casseroles. One dish meal that contains meat, veggies, and a starch. One casserole is easy to make and can be put into small freezer containers. You could also eat the same meal for several days.
That's ok 👍 I'll just live on the food I bought 6 years ago when they claimed there was a food shortage coming. 😂
I consider See's candy purchases as part of taking care of my mental health.
A food shortage does not necessarily have to mean that food is not available on the shelf. . . it can also mean that food has become too expensive to purchase, thus leading to a food shortage in the home. Food will always remain available but the types, varieties, and quality will diminish. Already, I've had to reduce or eliminate some food items from my diet simply because they are no longer affordable to me.
Butter is just not like the old butter we had as a kids. The flavor is gone.
I don't watch mainstream media anymore. Don't trust them to tell the truth.
Minnesota here home of the “hot dish” (casserole). As a single retired gramma I have altered how I make a casserole. I have lots of single serve batch cooked frozen components. Rice, beans, pasta, servings of meats,, lots of different vegetables. I combine a carb, a meat, a vegetable in a bowl or a stove to pan, heat and add a sauce or spices or sone creamy base, I don’t use canned condensed soup but something to make it all come together to distribute flavor, not soupy but maybe stew like consistency. I make a lot of butternut squash soup and freeze in individual containers. Tonight I’ll start with frozen butternut squash curry soup and add some meat and frozen quinoa and add a veg. I’d add rice but I am trying to eat up some things in the fridge freezer and all out of cooked rice. I have a big spice cupboard and add seasonings. Might throw in some raisins in the curry. Always a different meal and I use a pretty color contrast dish and it looks like a fancy restaurant meal. I have a very large garden and much of the produce additions are home grown.
Casseroles and Crockpot meals are coming back in style.
Also the 'shrinkflation" of the food mfg skimming ounces of products from their packaging
My mom used to make chicken and rice casserole with broccoli in it and a can of cream onion soup
Hola. Don forget our Arabica Coffee here Puerto Rico we are USA territory.
Revelation 6:6 Then I heard what sounded like a voice among the four living creatures, saying, “Two pounds of wheat for a day’s wages, and six pounds of barley for a day’s wages, and do not damage the oil and the wine!” Many people have no idea what's coming after Jesus returns for his church. Food and essentials will hit the fan. Big screen TVs will be ultra dirt cheap, but you can't eat TVs
Groceries have doubled, and what you get is a smaller amount. Math is not mathing.
My top 6 foods to suggest would be: 1. Rice 🍚🌾 2. Canned Proteins-think Tuna🐟, Spam🐖, Corned Beef🍖, Chicken🍗, Sardines and Smoked Oysters 🦪 3. Bottled Water 💧 4. Pasta🍝 and Tomato based products. Think canned Tomatoes, Passata and Tomato paste. 5. Canned Vegetables🫘🫛 and Fruits🍑 6. Iodized Salt, Dried Herbs(Italian Herbs🌿 and Curry🍛), Soya Sauce and Chicken Stock Cubes. Also a great tip would be to start to grow 🪴 your own Vegetables 🥒🍆 Buy a garden bed frame or dig a garden bed. Plant in pots or plastic containers.
Coffee and chocolate are very dear in Australia. Melbourne
I think that 4% price increase is missing a couple of zeros.
Heres something as well. I live in a church run state, utah. They just delivered over 10 million lbs of food all across the usa. This alone should tell you something. 😢
Yes, there’s an upcoming massive food shortage eminent. The LDS Church has moved food all over the country in anticipation for this. I went and bought a bag of rice and pinto beans 🫘 just to get started.
