The Japanese city of Utsunomiya suspended all 94 of its primary and middle schools on Monday (Jun 8 ) after its first-ever bear sighting. The city, about 100km north of Tokyo, said the bear was first spotted in a residential area near a park on Saturday evening. In the early hours of Sunday, surveillance footage from one of the city's major shopping streets captured the animal running past two startled bystanders. Bear paws are expensive! It's a delicacy.
😢 OMG! Hope everybody is OK including the runaway Bear 🐻 ... Luckily we keep our schools open where the occasional neighbourhood visits by groups of Wild Boars with their families 🐗 in Singapore or in Malaysia.

Please don’t destroy the bear! Relocate the bear to a proper habitat, that is if there are any left. Humans expanding into wild habitats are causing extinctions everywhere….let the bears live in peace!

Bear attacks and sightings have been on the rise in Japan since end of last year. This is in Utsunomiya, Tochigi and comes on the back of recent bear attack on a factory worker & killing of an elderly lady at her farm in the nearby Fukushima prefecture.
