3:56 they didn’t add new colors in 1.12 because they were still using metadata for wool colors at the time, and it would’ve messed up a lot of things if they added another wool color. They didn’t add it in 1.13 either because it didn’t match the theme of that update.
I think we should just be able to place carpet on stairs and slabs because it would make so much sense. I don’t like how they just float on them now

3:25 the problem with this is that then you're left with 3 wool slabs you have no use for. Plus, for consistency, you'd have to make the wood also be slabs
But what if it was 8 stairs instead? Afterall, the chunks taken out of the block need to go somewhere, and for something like wool it just makes sense that those chunks can be woven together to make more stairs
you should craft stairs as a 3 blocks in an L shape producing 3 stairs
So is this also finally the moments where wheat becomes straw. And wheat seeds become wheat? And hay(bales) must be crafted from grass.

I think dirt slabs just comes down to the look of the game and entity pathing/spawning
I think the issue you're having with the wool tarraforming is that you aren't texturing the ground at all. Mixing in moss and green concrete powder is a great way to hide the fact that the in between blocks are a different texture.
I like the Creates copycat solution. It's very flexible
