Thank you Mr Loo for sharing. Yes I am thinking to renew my car for another 10 years and thought of doing a makeover for my car. Hopefuily after 10 years I can retire and no need car. Currently it can be heart pain to pay more than S$200K for a new petrol or EV car. So just renewing S$100k COE won't burn my pocket right away. Thanks Mr Loo for the recommendation and sharing your experience. The repair shop owner seems like a friendly, proud and trustworthy fellow. Finding a reliable and honest mechanic nowadays (at least where i am) is a tall order. Too many overcharge and cut corners so most people I know undertake their own repairs or replace vehicle. I would certainly service my 🚗 there if i did not reside on the opposite side of the pacific pond. Your Honda is not exposed to the harsh elements year-round and can easily extend its useful life for many years to come. A very helpful video indeed.👍
For simple wear and tear replacement I will go Johor For fault finding n complex repairs, I will go to a sg workshop. Usually I part parts from stocklists n decide where to go to for repair. But I trust my sg workshop more

My GXL PRADO is September 2015; low km at 130,000 km, all major oils changed religiously over the years since I own it in 2023 (gear, transmission, lubricant, etc.). The first thing my mechanic did was to add a catch-can, which ensures diesel that goes into the combustion chambers is purer, without any water, dirt or sediment from the bottom of petrol station tanks that are old and rusty when filling up in regional Australia. I plan to drive it forever. No smart car for me, no soulless giant IPAD on wheels that feels dead and can be shut off remotely. My PRADO travels with me at all times on freeways, byways, country roads, cow dung roads, etc. A car is a car is a car. I used to send my COE renewed Benz 200 Masterpiece to a Benz mechanic in Mount Austin too, back in 2005 when I was still living in Singapore. Seems all the lao jiao (seasoned and experienced in the old ways) mechanic and the new generation of lao jiao (upcoming mechanics who are still decent, honest, creative and able to solve car problems without costing a bomb) is still setting up shops in Mount Austin, and friendly on the wallet. The mechanic was trying to explain everything with the suspension, ball joints, bush, bearings, etc. - which made your car feel new all over again! Enjoy your new car and stay safe.

The description did not mention about engine overhaul but the video did. So if the job excluded the engine, in my view, there's nothing to cheer about (the cost). Sorry. Of course, the cost in SG is higher due to premise rental and labour. Nonetheless, there are very good workshops in SG too. One just has to open up eyes/ears to find them. Btw, I had my Vezel COE renewed recently. Didn't repaint, no upholstery change. Just suspension renewed. Routine servicing is key to keeping the car in good shape. (Crossed 273k mileage.)
Mr Loo. Happy to watch your video. My Forester will be 10 in March 2027. As I will be 79 next year I will pay 5 years COE although my current mileage is only 90,000km. I will look for Jason to do some renewals. I've just changed my radiator and rear shock absorbers. I may respray the car and reupholster seats . Thanks for the contact
The mechanics in singapore are mostly malaysian among the flock of motorbikes commuting daily into sg, but business owners are likely singaporeans.
