The bit this cuts out is that he wasn’t saving up to get rich or get better living conditions. He was doing it to take a stand after his friend went on the show. He was rich at one point because of inheriting his brothers credits, and gave his friend/crush all of them to get her on the talent show because she was a talented singer. But the judges destroyed her performance but offered her a chance to instead work as, essentially, a porn star. She only agreed because she was drugged (the juice carton all auditioners get). He did the whole thing for revenge and then ‘sold out’ and became a part of the thing he hated.

The system always win because they have a contingency plan for every situation. They understand that, when pressed, people are selfish and will sell out for comfort. 😢

Black mirror is the show I loved this when it first came out haven’t seen any of the newer seasons but I highly recommend giving it a watch
