I felt struggling a bit but I will change my self
She makes a moderately compelling argument for how positive reinforcement can be used to create change in a target audience, but the psychological principles outlined don't necessarily carryover to creating change in yourself. In fact, there is little if anything here that can be utilized to motivate self because we know exactly what we're doing when we're trying to manipulate ourselves and we won't fall for it.
I can attest to this first hand .. growing up in India ( everything was kind of a decree and fear Induced ) ... I am 38 now and unlearning can take decades .. where now I just watch my slow progress rather than fear about health, wealth , societal status , job , title, car salary , raising a perfect son or he may end up in the streets etc ..we all have the power to undo our conditioning ( the 1st step is to realize our inner wiring)
Amazing presentation. It was really done with clarity and depth. Thank you Dr. Tali Sharot
The sentence that she said : “ highlight program than decline " got me rethink what I'm really doing. Mostly what I do is motivate myself by making or creating fear and ofcourse i procrastinate and not act From this day onwards I try to focus on positive and progress ❤ Im gonna work hard , so I get successful and can do whatever I wished and dreamt Im gonna study hard , which is my current most wanted need , so I can shine in my academics Im gonna workout or gonna run, so I can be really fit , looks good and healthy ❤
I've been telling others to stop, but I realized I've been too lenient with myself. I had convinced myself that I would be fine.
How do l change my behavior from good to bad any tips would be very helpful.
Wow its resally help me to notice who is the biggest sabotage of myself, great help. I grow up with this old "motivator" to do things "fear" if you dont do things ... thanks for sharing.
So i should reward myself with some good things according to my actions and behavior, like i am building a journal with my daily routine like 8 tasks of day one new skill added to it and i make a graph for the month and this makes me so motivated to make my graph as consistent as possible like a straight line graph, same i do for the sleep.
With the graph shown at 6:56 i wonder if this implicates that children would also learn better if you switch out the meaning and color coding of marking test results in exams. The common way is to mark wrong answers and to do so in red, the meaning being "At this question you did something wrong". How would the behavior of students towards their test results and the corresponding actions they take after receiving them change, if teachers would change the way they mark to: Using green to mark questions were there are Opportunities to learn something new.
Honestly, it breaks my heart how Manifest and Receive by Eva Hartley isn’t getting the attention it deserves. This book changed me. People need to wake up to this.
how can I copy the transcript for this video? I need it
I’m watching this 10 years later in 2025 and learning from it. It was amazing by not telling us what to do but providing necessary information to help us change our behavior! Thank you
Anyone here in March 2025😊
Who’s watching now 3/5/25 trying to stay motivated ❤
This was so helpful. I had no idea that when I try to scare myself to do something I'll actually end up not doing it.
