I would suggest focusing on very specific goals rather than abstractions: eased acess to housing credit for renovations, no redlining, community self-help; BHO wrote a very good essay about community organizing and using it as a transformative tool to rehab neighborhoods and replace crime (which is frustration at desperation) with hope. By taking on and solving concrete real world problems such as illegal deadly drugs, murders, broken houses neighborhoods can transform their own lives and improve them. Yes, this is a bootstrap approach to a problem of 300 years of eugenics, literal slavery, consequent brutalization and stupefaction, but it works as BHO has proven in practice. His hope is concrete, his audacity is the surprising part. The power of attractive ideas put into actual practice put him into state power, which is rather surprising so perhaps I am too unambitious?
