On 30 October 2025, the Vice-Chairperson of the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, Verene Shepherd, delivered a video message to the 2025 Social Forum panel on "Education for civil rights – Freedom, safety and accountability." Her video presentation was about the contribution of education to racial and gender justice. The 2025 Social Forum focuses on the contribution of education to the respect, promotion, protection and fulfilment of all human rights for all.

Colonial powers had institutionalized racism at UN level by allowing settler colonial apartheid state (Israel) become UN member state.
