In this spoiler-filled review, we’re talking entirely about the campaign story of Lord of Hatred: Lilith, Lorath, Tyrael, Mephisto, Neyrelle, the Tree of Whispers, the Amazons of Skovos, and why this expansion delivered some of the most satisfying story moments Diablo 4 has had so far. I loved a lot of what Lord of Hatred did. It felt character-driven, emotionally charged, and deeply aware of what Diablo fans wanted after the base campaign and Vessel of Hatred. But there was one big issue that pulled me out of the story’s most powerful moment. Warning: full story spoilers for Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred. I said IDK to lilith in that "would you do it again" convo, she says "at least you're honest. Maybe I owe you some honesty myself. I pity you. You're trapped between the world you have and the world you want, and you can choose neither" and THAT was such a good fucking line man
Seeing your character go back into the cave that you started in was actually crazy.
I could fix Lilith but blizzard keeps making me kill her
One thing i thought would have been so fitting was mounting lillith's blade on lorath's spear after he had died.
I think you got this one wrong. Lilith doesn't say we're dumb for saying no. She laughs at the irony that, back then, she would have never given us a second though, but because we killed her, it bonded our fate and she is now recognising us as an equal. She's saying "Back then you didn't know better so you killed me. And back then I didn't known better so I would have betrayed you for trusting me. And yet because you've killed me, now we're here on the same side seeing each other in a different light." It's a chuckle at the cruelty of destiny that it took matricide to finally find wisdom.
Sever the bond cutscene with its soundtrack made it all worth it
There were two big moments where I was ulgy crying, when Tyrael showed up and when I heard the Tristram theme song, It took me several minutes to continue because this game means so much to me, I started playing Diablo 1 really young with my dad, he's no longer here with me, and I wish he could've get to play Diablo 4.
My only real “well that was stupid” moment is the moment that Lorath decided to approach the Amazon queen to tell her about Mephisto. Like why would he not go to her in private, or at least not literally on a stage with Akarat right there. I get that time was of the essence, but it just felt like a crazy dude running on the stage at an award show to do something stupid. Made it way too easy for Mephisto to make a move. Overall, not too big a deal, Mephisto would have found his moment regardless, and they had to do it somehow. And yeah, Tyraels’s arrival was 11/10. What a moment
Still want to know where is the nephalem from D3.. also another 2 expansion for Baal would be awesome
Lorath hugging Tyreal made me lil misty eyed. By far best moment.
If you pick the “I don’t know” option, we get one of the only times Lilith actually gets a bit emotional. She even implies that you remind her of Rathma and admits that she misses him terribly.
I can't be the only one that cried on that final part w/ Lilith. So good.
I love the fact that the lord of hatred seemingly gave birth to love. Lilith in her own twisted way loved humanity her children. She ultamately gave up her life so we could fight back. And that is seemingly what was missing from the eternal conflict even with the heavens. neither side truly found love until lilith and inarius. it is up to humanity to break the cycle.
Is it me or was the Deckard Cain impression surprisingly on point? lol
My biggest issue is we didn't get a cosmetic for the "spear of light"
I didn’t realize Lorath was the one that got away in the Reaper of Souls intro cinematic!
The way lorath went out caught me by surprise
I thought they did Inarius so dirty... In D3 we learned a lot of how he was the one who wanted a place away from the conflict, but in D4, not only he was killed before doing anything substantial, he's also a weak fool who basicly did nothing and Lilith is the one that really did all the work while he just enjoyed being god or something. They could do so much more with him...
I am impressed how the Nephalem is dodged in every possible way the Being that was Feared by heaven and hell and not a single soul ever heard of them , Tyrael and Lorath also never mention the Nephalem i love the Expack but i wish there would be a mention
Didn't Mephisto corrupt the pools of creation? That is what I thought it looked like
