FYI, you can use the egg timer to lure/distract him. So what I did (my lab was up a ramp and the golden thing was at the bottom and he was camping the hell out of it) was find a door, go through, hope it was decently far, use an egg timer and wait for it to go off, go back through the door and get back to the golden thing, and wait for a few seconds and pray he was far away enough for me to get it up the ramp in one go, because yes it will roll back down so you have to do it all in one go. My strat for finding both rooms was just to die whenever I couldn't find either quickly, saves a lot of time since you want both to be near each other cus otherwise it's basically impossible. Overall I'm kinda disappointed with this level, the rng makes it really unfun and sometimes I could never find either room, and the monster will just come from the floor or ceiling and insta kill you and that ruined a lot of close attempts. I hope they make the map a bit smaller or just make the monster a lot less aggressive.

yo you should come back to apeirophobia, they basically revamped all the levels for chapter 1 (levels 0-16) some just has new textures meanwhile most of the other levels is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT would probably recommend playing it

I'm not a backrooms expert but I think the egg timers are probably audio lures to distract him, since you kept finding them around and he follows sound. Might also have helped to turn your mic sensitivity down a little, it seemed very strong and was probably the reason he kept locking onto you so often. Another theory I had was when you watched the tape he stopped getting audibly closer, so maybe letting it play and then running away from it would stunlock him. Love your videos, especially the longer ones! I love to watch them while crocheting; I made a whole coaster while watching this one!
