You've reached the end
Harry Kane would start for England at any era, any team and any formation ever.
owen is so humble that he wont let you tell how good he was he will do it himself for you
A lot of old strikers wouldn't stand a chance against todays defensive systems.
Technically I get his point, theyβre seemed to be more talented/skilfull footballers back then, but where the game has moved on now is the sheer athleticism of these players, the passing ability of modern centre backs and keepers. Teams keep the ball so well now the only way to win it back is for the attack to press as a unit from the front. The games evolved from then
Unpopular opinion but scoring goals nowadays is very hard due to modern defensive system.teams usually nowadays prepare for every strikers. It is so methodical to the point it is very boring. What people admire strikers of gone days are the techniques. They used to dribble and take shots a lot from distance. Now managers usually don't allow players to do that, they are focused on possession. These old players glaze a lot about their times. But I don't think every top strikers of gone generation would survive today.
Kevin Philips played for Sunderland and would get 30+ goals per season. Robbie fowler, stan collymore, Ian wright would score crazy amounts of goals and couldnβt get in the England squad regularly.
One thing English players and English media they lack objective
Old school strikers had better technique and were better finishers, but were generally slower than now
What a bunch of nonsense! Well itβs Owen after all. Prime Owen, the one that won Golden Boot and Ballon dβOr back then does not come close to Mbappe, Haaland or Kane. End of discussion.
How do you toss a coin between 3 players π
"Old men think things were better when they were young" shocker.
Owen is amazing. to own the ballon dor, played for Hugh teams, Real Madrid, liverpool, Newcastle, Manchester United. To not be liked or respected by any of them is quite amazing
Kane isn't gonna last forever? Did Owen?
Erling halaand is honestly so underrated rn
I think it was easier to shine in those days where not everyone was a consummate professional. Nowadays, the players physical level and technical skill are much higher on average
People still consider his Balon Dβor extremely questionable
Incredible, a video on strikers showing mbappe, cristiano, henry etc
Im convinced the balls have an impact, they seem so light these days that players are less subtle and often seem to just get their foot behind it whenever possible. Im guessing it's a tad harder to have the touch that a heavier ball allows for.
How is it not a comparison??
80s 90s best most talented players.. 2000s close last 5 yeaR god help us
