I'm an umpire myself and I have no words to explain how bad that call was

He did handle that extremely well though😂

He is safe, but that slide is so bad that he could have just slapped the dirt past the plate from a different perspective. All umps need glasses sometime tho lol

I've seen people trip and fall down stairs with more coordination and grace then that slide.

Some leagues with younger kids prohibit sliding head first, if not that then I have no idea

Unless his left hand touched the plate then he missed home plate completely

He probably Called it out because of how bad the slide was😂😂😂

Ahh Angel Hernandez does come from humble beginnings.

That call in the great scheme of things won’t mean much but the mature and classy way he handled it is going to make him a person of value.

His elbow barely hit the plate, tough angle for the ump

People, absolutely none of his body touched the plate.

Good job kid. We are defined by how we handle bad calls. A lesser person would have thrown a fit and embarrassed his family. Shows good character.

A. Blocking the plate. B. Touched the plate. C. Making call with mask on. Other than all that. Great call.

I will say as someone who plays softball I have stumbled across very,many bad umps.I have also found level headed umps!I am not saying you are a horrible ump if the ball is on the cuts the corner of the plate and you call ball.Thats fine every one is human!Also stay safe and a blessed day (or night)✝️🫶🏻

Basically he went back to make sure and sometimes body language can get you out
