Arlo: "Nintendo couldnt have picked a worse time to launch a new system" Valve: ...
Squidward: This is ridiculous! Who wants to watch an Arlo video at three in the morning? Patrick Star: Oh, boy! Three AM!
I think you’re describing the increased polarisation of society, not just video games. I am seeing it everywhere
Oh boy 3 AM!
Honestly think it is as simple as this, we are broke. Not so interested in new games we can't afford. 2026, the year of the backlog.
this was uploaded at 8am in the uk . . . . arlo is british i just cant prove it yet
I think one of the things that contributed to switch 2's first year being filled with so much weirdness was the lack of substantial directs. After the switch 2 launched, nintendo only had one general direct and that one was an oddball direct. The lack of directs made it to where the drama and negativity could just sit there and fester in the community because there wasn't a bunch of major announcements to override the negativity. I hope next week, the rumors are true and nintendo hits a home run direct.
Man had this ready right at midnight, love the commitment.
It's the game prices, man. I genuinely don't think we would have had nearly this level of controversy if the games were $10 cheaper. Starfox and Splatoon Raiders being $50 is a good start, and the fact I was able to find lower prices for games helped me ultimately buy a Switch 2. Now I just need to wait for Mario Kart World to go down to $50...
If Drag X Drive was a Mii Series game it would be a lot more celebrated
I'm glad you touched on these points and highlighting the joy you've had. Any semblance of joy that I have been getting from the Switch 2 (and other hobbies frankly) I've mostly kept it to myself, avoiding engaging online because of how demotivating it's been lately. I hope we can look more often at the good and fun that's happening in gaming, cause it won't get better if we keep arguing in the void of the internet.
This was the exact mix of nuance and positivity I needed right now. Thanks!
Love that this was uploaded on the dot at midnight lol
Arlo uploading at European hours lol
I hear you Arlo, as a Disney creator myself, we’ve gone through the same thing. Y’all are not alone over on the Nintendo side of YouTube
It’s kind of hard to deny the impact of both the world economy and the greediness of the gaming industry (any industry, really). I personally think that the games have been stellar. If we were all in a better place mentally and financially I don’t think we would be having these issues.
I mean I hate to say it but Nintendo is a corporation and we are living through one of the most turbulent economic/class crises of the last century. I can't think of any brands who are well liked at this point
There's definitely a lot of rose-tinted nostalgia for the Switch 1's first year. Nintendo was determined to come back, make themselves relevant again, so they made sure to prepare of must have lineup of all of their top franchises AND have a crystal clear marketing strategy as to what the Switch is, and it paid off thousandfold. The Switch 1 is now the second highest selling game console of all time, Nintendo is the most successful and relevant they've EVER been. It's obvious that their marketing and release strategies have changed, and that's resulted in a lot of disarray in the online Nintendo space, who knows if or when that's gonna improve. I *know* I want to get a Switch 2, and I *know* I'm gonna get a lot out of it in the future. Internet discourse can feel overwhelming and oppressive, but its a personal choice to either let it consume you or refuse to take it seriously.
Arlo always has a refreshing perspective. Here’s to possitivity (:
Nah I appreciate the meandering, helps to add weight to the point Arlo 😂 I subbed for all the content, not just the main point
