My car salesman is almost like this. He knows his cars, makes competitve prices and simply sticks to his word. Guess why I come back

The best salespeople don’t chase approval. They understand the problem, stay detached from the outcome, and let confidence do the selling.

That's basically how I negotiate and how I deal with people in business too - and people really respect it... I've had exactly 4 car salesmen so far be straight with me like this and I bought from them in every case without further messing around - on one the sales manager comes over and off the cuff gives me a good price without even negotiating. I said "Hey, do me a solid and knock a few bucks off to make me feel like I argued about it". He did, we shook hands and done. The way it should be lol. All those bullshit fees dealers add on now should be illegal or at least required to be disclosed as part of the advertised price. God I hate the car business and everybody in it - and I'm in the business lol.

It's the same things when it comes to drugs and drug dealers.... You don't have to go out of your way to sell anything if they want it they're going to buy it either from you or somebody else... Just give them quality products

No that is the right rule. Never chase. You can’t sell to people who don’t want your product. That is a myth. If by chance you can trick someone into buying something they don’t need or want, they will be upset and you will lose a repeat customer. Either way it’s bad for business to chase long term

This is what a great salesperson understands. You sell from a position of power. If the customer doesn’t want the product they will never buy it. You have to make them want it if they don’t, this guy obviously was wanting to buy. I mean shit, he came inside and requested help for godssake. That’s a t ball home run.

Best experience I ever had at a dealership was where I walked up and asked to see a truck, they gave me the keys, took a copy of my license and told me to check it out and drive it. Didn’t come with me, didn’t bug me and let me look it over with no pressure or sales tactics. I offered my car as a straight trade title for title. He hummed and hawed for a few mins saying he wanted cash on top from my end. We went over a few things like recent maintenance I’d done with receipts, the car I had was popular in the local area and sells fast at a decent price which was lower than his truck was for sale which he’d had on the lot for over a month. Wound up agreeing and we both walked away happy. I’ve seen that car driving around 6 years later with still the same plate and I still have that truck.

My husband worked for a car resale company called Price Auto Outlet back in the 90s. He was in Finance; didn't sell cars but he heard and learned all the tricks. Every time we went into a dealership years later to buy a car for me (salesmen always "see me coming" and try to snow me) he straight up told the reps "look, I know the margins, I know the game. We want *that* car, we want you to make a decent commission. Just do right by us. We'll buy it and we'll tell others." That honesty ALWAYS worked and we got very good prices on my last Honda and my two Mazdas.
