Chaos Theory: Unravelling The Universe With One Simple Equation

Education

Jim Al-Khalili walks us through the unexpected marriage between order and chaos, exploring the work behind Alan Turing and the theory behind the Mandelbrot set. We look at morphogenesis and self-organisation to give a reason behind the randomness in our universe. How do the cells in a body know whether to create skin or an eye? From the dappled spots on a cow and the ripples in sand dunes, to the structure of the universe, this documentary looks at the science behind chaos and how the complexity of our universe stems from simple rules repeated over and over again, unravelling the universe with one simple equation. Welcome to Progress - the home of engineering marvels, space exploration and history's greatest inventions. At the level of chaoticism, at the level of nonlinear systems, at the level of non-additivity – those are things where no degree of looking at tinier and tinier things with better and better resolution can ever give you predictive power. How does this fit into free will? The Universe throws random events at you and your behavioural outcome then occurs. Given that bit of randomness in the Universe at that point, you behave in a certain way because you turned out to be the sort of person whose neurons would respond in that way. The future is not already determined, but how you will respond to that indeterministic future has already been determined by how you wound up being who you are in this instant. - Robert Sapolsky

I will say this we have to think of everything as a living thing everything is living around us inside of us. Everything that we are made of is everything that’s outside of us. We were Cunningham with everything that the universe has to offer us and science today has been more focused than anything that has ever been focused and I’m glad that we’re there cause there’s much to be revealed in time, but I’m folding the universe is code. I’m not sure it’s possible. I’m not sure we were supposed to.

Another fantastic program. However, without chaos life could be boring - a sort of 'Groundhog Day' where every action during every day would bring the same result. Mind you, there are those who prefer and feel safe with routine. Our life experiences depend on what we focus our minds upon, which is governed by our beliefs. I enjoy unexpected surprises!

Oh my goodness. The power of that final statement blows me away.

It is easy to claim that chaos theory gives rise to cells and genomes, but self-organization needs a divine designer. Simple ideas can lead to consciousness and intelligence, inanimate objects leading to life implies divine design.

When chaotic systems achieve singularities, Brownian motion becomes predictive of certain infinite regressions. When this occurs, mathematics indeed will transgress boundaries placed by any available observer. When you think of it, it’s as if we look at same side of a coin under entirely different polarities.

This understanding should infact prove the existance of an undeniable Creator and a Designer. Complex system arising from simple math is not the only way. It's the other way around too. It has always been that the opposites of Simplicity & Complexity, Science & Art, Electricity & Magnetism, Logic & Intuition, Masculine & Feminine a break even at Design. The fact that these opposites are not different but the same force acting in opposite ways. What's important is that the Designer chose to Design the whole Universe and everything in it in a certain way He wished to, but then they all ultimately prove Him. He is that True One which does not exist in the world of creation which is dual in nature and not really truly One. That True One chose to express Himself through duality and chose to do it in a certain fashion which let's Himself be known. Known for being the infinite Treasure He is, the One unmatched. He decided to be known and created everything like a kaleidoscope which ultimately makes Him evident more and more as we study His work. The argument that evolution did this. What is Evolution other than the act of The True One expressing Himself? The story He is telling. "Which, then, of your Lord's blessings do you *both* deny?" - Holy Qur'an
