i think the point he is trying to convey is crucial.Playing the double pivot in defensive phases often meant that two players can be taken out of the game at once if a simple pass was made. And this is where managers like Flick, Klopp and Jupp come in cause they have shown that having a dynamic double pivot with complementary playstyles means that they will often never play in the same line out of possession. In the case of Flick, he redesigns the entire formation from scratch to create a different pressing structure in itself

This is how Pep destroyed Madrid in the 6-2, Madrid had 2 midfielders covering Xavi-Iniesta and Pep changed everything making Messi a false 9 who a times was dropping deep and making a 3vs2 at times which means Madrid was always chasing shadows. Numerical advantage in midfield is key, if you have more players in midfield then you can dominate because there is always a free man.

Well actually he talks about the moment where the team in possession loses it. Secondly he said that you block yourself in a 4231 and thus must use the fullback in the build-up which he never wanted.

He lost 4-0 to a 442 formation in the 94 UCL final....
4231 is just a fancy 442: 2 wide players in advance position, and a drop back forward.

yeah but the history says defence and direct football win u a trophy the most. Italy with catenaccio, Mourinho with his park the bus, AC Milan with their defence outplayed Cruyff Barcelona team in UCL final.
4231 is basically 442 with dropping second striker and inverted wingers, and 442 is still never a good formation for ball retention. For counter attack though it may work.

Not Disrespecting the Legendary Player Cryuff, But some People say he is The Father Of Modern Football Tactics and Managers... That is Unacceptable...

424 is the best, formation for both defence a and attack

How I wish I could go back to 2010
Wasnβt he talking about 4-4-2 in that clip ??
That's why the 4-3-1-2 is the best strategical formation there is, since it can easily turn into a 3-4-1-2 in defense and 4-3-3 on offense
I agree 2 dm and 1 cam is dumb, you're left with no true midfielders
He was talking about the diamond shape in midfield

Mourinho with inter and Madrid won with 4-2-3-1
