Mid block is a good choice because 1. It retains player's stamina 2. Players positions are easily well structured while defending 3-5-2 formation could use mid block for effective defence and attack
Mid block is 4-4-2 playing focus on the central pitch (midfield area)
That's why it's important to have defenders with good range of passing and forwards that can keep the width with good movement so you can attempt diagonals when there is no pressure on the ball
