One of the most of the frustrating things since Fergie retired has been United's inability to recruit at midfield correctly, so many advanced type players without ever getting in anyone who could command midfield or play splitting passes. So much averageness and players who were really 10's not 8's or 6's.

I have no words, you truly outdid yourself. And guys, this is one of the channels that improved my tactical understanding of the game massively as someone who started watching football in 2020.

Pogba had so many roles to help the United team and the media turned it into a campaign for “unlocking Pogba”

Pretty much the 2 things that remained consistent were hiring managers very different from each other that didn’t fit the personnel they had at all, and the lack of a true deep lying playmaker

I'm feeling more confident about United this season, though I’m still passively optimistic. Back in Ralf Rangnick’s tenure, he famously said United needed “open-heart surgery” — and I think that applied to both the team and the management. Comparing RR’s first XI to Amorim’s first XI for the upcoming season, only three players remain: Maguire, Shaw, and Bruno. Off the pitch, we finally have football people making football decisions. Since INEOS and Omar Berrada comes in, United have brought in Nous, De Ligt, Ugarte, Zirkzee, and Yoro. We moved away from chasing “big names” and towards more technical profiles (well… except maybe Ugarte). So… I guess the surgery is successful? *Fingers crossed* Bruno will probably drop deeper into midfield this season, which makes sense. He’s turning 31 soon, and as you mentioned in your video, many 10s lose their dynamism with age. And we brought in two younger and PL-proven, new 10s, in replacement of the missing creativity with Bruno dropping deep. On Ugarte not being press-resistant — we are eyeing Baleba to be Bruno partner. The management seems to be making the right calls so far. Although Onana and the PL-untested Sesko do still give me a little chill down the spine. And on Amorim — he feels like he has got Ole’s charisma and positivity, mixed with EtH's tactical sharpness. His 3-4-3 makes a lot of sense too. These days, almost every team builds up and defends in rest with three at the back — and we already in that shape. The wing-backs can provide width on both sides and can be more attack-minded, since they are not part of the traditional back four. The two-man midfield will get outnumbered at times, but that’s easily solved by the 10s dropping in to form a box of four. Things are looking positive, but still.. I would like to remain passively optimistic.

One correction at 23:17. Both Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin were part of Mourinhos team until the January transfer window of 2017, when Bastian went to Chicago and Morgan went to Everton. Mou just didn't want to play them.
