There is such a thing as being too wide open. When you are sooo wide open, sometimes anxiety and a lack of focus sets in. You feel like the ball is taking forever to get to you and your focus becomes off. When you are tightly covered, you tend to focus much more. I’ve been there, but I still made the catch. (But I did bobble the ball before securing it)
