not a perfect comparison, but in Canada we have this issue with our hockey program. Every time a major tourney comes up its "how did he get left off? AND HIM?!" but let me spin you a cautionary tale. in 1998 we tried to get cute at the olympics in 2006 and it went sideways real fast. Sometimes when you have the most talented players you just bring 'em. i do realize English football has its OWN 2006 team selection nightmare.

Honestly, if you look at probabilities, even the favourites normally have a max 15% chance of winning, that’s 1.5 wins in every 10 tournaments I.E likely to win one in 40 years given they remain favourites consistently over multiple generations. So no, no team is likely to win the World Cup, but if you are looking at, does England have the talent to compete with Spain, France etc, then yes they 100% do

I think Tuchel is thinking for any chance to win, they need to play around their best player harry Kane. It’s easy to make harry kane successful - just rebuild an English Bayern Munich. All the English players chosen is to make a template of Bayern Munich with harry kane as the center piece.

Good analysis. I think your video simply and clearly shows why Tuchel was never going to take Maguire (too slow, plays deep, can't be flexible as you describe for Tuchels adjustments, stubborn, not (Tuchel) team player), Trent (defending not a strength, doesn't follow a plan, wanders too much, not (Tuchel) team player?), Foden / Palmer not tactical or style fit. All / most of the things we struggled with under Southgate (whom I liked) are being addressed or have been addressed. Finally we have a manager who is structurally and tactically excellent....unlike for the last ? fifty years...and has the confidence and balls to leave players at home who may be stars in their own team, but aren't stars in the England team

Was very surprised to see Wharton get MoTM in the European final without a Jordan Henderson next to him cajoling and resassuring him constantly. Absurd decision, and theyll be a game against a good team when the bench is needed and there's bang-average Henderson, Mainoo and Quansah to change the game.
