After owning it for over a year and putting 16k miles on it, it really comes down to two questions: 1. Are you comfortable with Mazda’s approach to driving dynamics—sportier handling and a relatively stiff suspension? 2. Are you okay with the somewhat smaller cargo capacity? If those aren’t issues, it’s a reliable three-row SUV (as Car & Driver also notes) that drives more like a sedan—in a good way. The safety ratings are excellent as well, which makes it a solid family car.
We own a 2025 and could not be happier. Punches well above its weight in every way. This is a very underrated vehicle.
Some of the things that bugged you I definitely prefer it to have the controls for the display works great and is less of a distraction when driving. I found touch screens to be more of a distraction. I have a no S model and fuel economy is 25.7 avg.
I disagree with the infotainment system. I have a 26 Mazda 3 Hatchback. It takes a couple weeks to get used to daily but I LOVE it so much more than the traditional touchscreen. It’s easy to use and I can use it without trying to touch something and it getting the wrong thing or hitting it twice. It’s way safer imo

Bought 2. One last year February. Rolled over in July after being t boned. Walked out like a champ an bought a second one. Good vehicle. 2 road trips to Houston and back from Miami. Excellent on the highway.
Just purchased a 2025 cx 90 and a 2025 cx 70 both are exceptional at handling, driving performance and looks. We have been averaging 35 mpg on the cx 70 PHEV and 24.5 on the cx 90. Highly recommend Mazda.

So much for a first generation, lots of potential for improvement. I like most of it but would wait for the refinement to happen.
Look you can’t listen to everybody. I had a 2019 Mustang GT with almost 500 hp. I traded it in for a 2026CX 90 and I only got 280 hp. I’m very pleased with the horsepower that I have and there’s not a lot of understeer when you take corners you can’t believe that this large vehicle performs the way it does now I came out of a Mustang, not a BMW or a Mercedes so I have a different type of comparison. I am very pleased with my CX 90 and 6mazda they knew what they were doing. Very pleased very very pleased even the 280 hp is fast.
40k reviews is clearly as good as it gets, the best way of evaluating IMO.
The fact that the huge CX90 just drives exactly like a Mazda 3 hatchback, having great handling and dynamics, is more than impressive
There is always something about Mazda cars that seems very simplified/minimalistic, yet it still manages to look so beautiful. The interior is tasteful/contemporary, and the exterior is elegant/detailed craftsmanship. That is basically Japanese culture in a nutshell. Of course, a lot of people would argue that Mazda’s interiors are not on the same level as Lexus. Personally, I think that Lexus’s interiors can sometimes be over the top, and their exteriors are on par with Mazda’s. However, I prefer the latter slightly more.
I have the version with the 280 hp and I really like the motor . Nice response and zero issues with the transmission. Heavy wheel is exactly what Mazda owners like.
I've had my CX-70 Premium for 6k miles now. Some of the complaints here are from reviewers who don't get super familiar with the cars. I only have 2 gripes - transmission needs to warm up a bit, and selecting a driver profile goes away too quickly if my Android Auto connects too quick. Other than that, I'm very happy with the rig.
As a '25 PHEV owner, I feel like these reviews often get the final verdict wrong. Is it perfect? No. But if you care about driving dynamics in a 3-row SUV, nothing else in this class touches it. My advice: be tactical with the trim levels or negotiate well, as the pricing can get steep fast.
