I never knew in 1955 you could still get a six cylinder. I thought it was just 265 V8 exclusively. Good info interesting. 🤔. edit. Yeah, I was really surprised so I did some research...1955 Chevrolet Corvette with a six-cylinder engine, although these units are extremely rare. Of the 700 Corvettes produced in 1955, only six to seven were equipped with the standard 235 cubic inch "Blue Flame" inline-six engine. Six-cylinder models retained the 6-volt electrical system used in 1953–1954, whereas the V8 models switched to a 12-volt system and featured an electric windshield wiper. Availability: The six-cylinder option was largely a carry-over from previous years; 6 sold.. once the remaining inventory of these models was sold, Chevrolet ceased offering the inline-six for the Corvette. No wonder why I never heard that before.

The 1964 Chevelle would be my favorite. I hope it gets restored.

Those early Corvettes don't have partial VINs on the engines, so numbers matching only goes as far as casting numbers and date codes. Some guys say that ended in the first half of '60, some say '62 was the last year, and some say '64
