Leave the EV's to China. They are successful making some of the most desirable EV and the world of EV belongs to them. Most African, Asian, and South American countries prefer Chinese EV.

Once again, the companies fail to deliver what consumers want instead of what their ideology wants.
I'm not sure why these companies don't get it, range limitations are real for most people in the US. The US is BIG and people like to drive, they want range and don't want to have to wait for a recharge. Hybrids are great, save a LOT of gas in town but can travel long distance without stopping if people want. Most Americans simply don't want a full electric until they have close to 1000 mile range or can recharge, like the new BYDs, in about 10 minutes.

What went wrong is that giant companies with access to funds for r&d to make an actual survey from real normal people chose to believe a tiny minority of western hype-mongers, people who will literally hop on the latest bandwagon because "it's new it's modern", we even have a number of EV scam companies revealed just in the past few years. Full EV will never be practical in the next 10-20 years simply because of a lack of infrastructure, outside of the US charging stations aren't even available outside major cities, and even in major cities they're very limited; PHEVs however are exactly what we need right now amidst the fuel crisis, it's a very sound middle ground for electric and fossil fuel.
