Yes. You are brilliant. Thank you. I drive my EV like a grandpa, because I am one. Most of my driving is short-trip errands on secondary roads. The kWh per mile performance is awful on these short trips, generally, but when I get out on the highway (remember that I drive like a grandpa there too) the efficiency is great! This is as you are discussing. As the vehicle stabilizes--as the motors warm up, etc.--the efficiency improves, even at highway speeds. Thank you, Mr. Wrench-and-Reason Answer Man!
Like everything else in life (for those curious minds), education is key which also applies to EVs. We have 2 EVs and could not be happier especially now.

One of the biggest mindset shifts with EV ownership is realizing the car often isn’t truly “inactive” the way most people think. A lot of the system behavior people notice — overnight battery movement, short-trip inefficiency, regen changes, charging inconsistency — is connected to the vehicle constantly managing itself in the background.

In a garage at reasonable temperatures, which here in lowland California is most of the time, our two Teslas, a 3 and an X, will be running fans and making noises, dumping heat to avoid heat soaking electronics, for maybe ten to twenty minutes after returning home. They will then very likely go to sleep, perhaps for days, until used again. Asleep the cars use very little energy. Silent as can be. As for short-trip inefficiencies, if you avoid cabin climate control, I suspect most of that starting spike in wh/mi numbers will not be there. The cars are so efficient in going down the road, that a heat pump kicking on and adjusting the cabin temperature, is like the elephant in the room…

This sounds overwhelming…..This is perfect video to explain why you SHOULD NOT purchase an ELECTRIC VEHICLE. Many buyers are not aware of the limitations & complexity and end up having buyers remorse.
