Thanks to Meter for sponsoring this video! Go to http://meter.com/ltt to book a demo now! We're here at Computex 2026 checking out some new Noctua goodies, one of which seems to be a very interesting alternative to thermal paste. Alongside that they're also showing off an AIO which looks pretty nifty Labs article: https://www.lttlabs.com/articles/2026/05/26/carbice-ice-pads Discuss on the forum: https://linustechtips.com/topic/1638725-noctua-says-this-is-thermal-paste/ Check out our Channel Partners: Secretlab - Grab a TITAN Evo ergonomic gaming chair: https://lmg.gg/secretlabltt PIA - Get the VPN of our choice: https://www.piavpn.com/ltt dbrand - Buy a "Circuit" series skin for your device: https://dbrand.com/pcb ► SHOP LTT PRODUCTS: https://lttstore.com ► GET EXCLUSIVE CONTENT ON FLOATPLANE: https://lmg.gg/lttfloatplane ► DIVE DEEPER ON THE LTT LABS WEBSITE: https://lmg.gg/labs ► SPONSORS, AFFILIATES, AND PARTNERS: https://lmg.gg/partners Purchases made through some store links may provide some compensation to Linus Media Group. The founder of Carbice was my thermodynamics professor in college. That was like 15 years ago now. Awesome to see it go from his research in a lab to mainstream on LTT! Nice work Dr. Cola!
Gotta love the "optimal break-in your thermal paste" videos coming soon to youtube from an ai near you.
you gotta give it a noctua and cool on that thang
Let’s take a moment to realize that Noctua just reinvented the direct over CPU case fan of every case made till at least 2012…
Phase change pad is still the way to go, then. What a wonderful invention
Using pore strips as thermal paste. Definitely an LTT video. 😂
4:01 I think the better analogy would be "like pushing your palm into a brush"
Right after i replace my liquid metal thermal paste to a PTM one...... now new kind of thermal paste is emerged
Great timing, been thinking of switching to a thermal pad next time i clean my paste after seeing them so much recently.
I am 90% sure we created a new fancy synthetic asbestos with CNTs Great stuff! I'm just not convinced about using it in any non-enclosed context...
I see a followup video with Linus learning how to lap metals to smooth out Intel heat spreader surfaces.
I was losing faith when this video didnt have Riley saying "carbon nanotubes" at the beginning when Linus says it.
the old shoes salesman story of, "I hear you that this isn't good right now, but it will be great once you break it in".
It would be good to see a thermal pad that’s as thick as thermal paste is when you put it onto the cpu before you tighten the cooling solution onto it
I have been using a Thermal Grizzly KryoSheet graphene pad for about 8 months now and its worked out fantastic.
I thought I had dropped my nose strips somewhere, please give them back
I can't help but think of meater meat thermometers whenever they bring up meter as a sponsor.
That thermal carpet will be interesting on laptops or gpus
This was a missed opportunity to say "... and tell about the sponsor... of this segway..."
I totally get why this was sold to aerospace companies as for long term use it’s hard to beat
