PNG shouldnt have even been based in Png, major security issues, corruption and needless violence. Place is putrid. They should have been based in far nth Qld/Darwin.

Personally I believe one should be able to say they are interested in a player or players. What isn’t ok is being able to negotiate with players until November 1. If a player wants to risk waiting for this negotiation to possibly happen and believe the dollar amount will satisfy then that’s on them. Now that I’ve gotten the illusion out of the way, let’s get real. If anyone honestly believes that managers aren’t communicating with clubs prior to November 1 I shake my head. Also if supporters still hold loyalty high on their agenda then please stop. Everyone can look for greater opportunities in life even the NRL CEO😂. Yet players have to wait. I don’t agree with the notion that wealthier clubs will take over and dominate if players were allowed to negotiate at anytime. It happens already due to 3rd party contracts. The clubs we see constantly in the top 8 in Roosters, Storm, Brisbane over decades and now Penrith in reality are over the cap by more than 2 million due to 3rd party deals. I believe there should be a cap on 3rd party deals of 1 million. That would help even the field slightly. Most NRL clubs are run by people with their own agenda at the forefront.

Mal Meninga would be nothing without RL. He has never has been the sharpest tool in the shed and frankly if you had to put a man in charge to build a new club , Mal would not be my choice. I like him but he has had a charmed existence off RL . You need a John Quayle or a John Ribot or Ben Iken or Nick Politus or Ken Arthurson etc type personality. Not some floater albeit nice bloke cruiser like Mal.
