The worst mods that will make your 4WD undriveable! Wheel spacers, body lifts, poorly thought out 12V systems and tyres so big they'll do more harm than good. If you're just starting out, watch this before you spend a cent. The 4WD world is full of gear that looks the part on Instagram and destroys your build in real life. Jesse breaks down the mods that beginners keep falling for — the ones that are all fashion and zero function. Wheel spacers that look tough until your wheel falls off. Body lifts that fool everyone into thinking there's actual suspension travel underneath. 12V setups so overcomplicated they need their own IT department. And big aggressive tyres that punish everything from your diffs to your fuel bill. If you're new to the scene, this one's for you. Don't learn the expensive way. 👇 Drop it below: 🔧 Worst Mod You've Ever Installed On Your 4WD: ____ 00:00 Intro 00:14 Wheel Spacer 01:27 Big Tyres 03:20 Big Lifts 04:27 Overcomplicated 12V Setup 05:53 Body Lifts 07:47 Twin Snorkels 08:26 Big Power Upgrades 09:33 Fashion Over Function 📱 Follow us: Instagram @4wd247 Facebook @4wd247 TikTok @4wd247 Shaun, Graham, Jock & Jesse — formerly with 4WD Action — have been delivering Australia's best off-road content for 20+ years. The worst mod is an Instagram profile
In my experience the capability of your 4x4 is inversely proportional to how much you care about damaging it.
I am a young guy getting into 4wding. The mods I have done are one size bigger tyres diff breathers and bash plates
Don’t need Light up Ariel’s and kenworth mudflaps
Those big flashing aerials that’s scream I’m a fkwit
Why not just tell people that wheel spacers are illegal on Australian roads
Not to mention people mod their cars with functional mods for fashionable purposes. 4link, hyperflex arms, beadlocks, all the superior gear to never leave the pavement
8:10 It makes no sense! My old boy has a Single 4inch snorkel on a Cummins Ram making over 600rwhp and 1200nm. I Highly doubt a VDJ needs two 5inch snorkels lol
Thank you Jesse, the last 4x4 247 presenter that doesn't sound like a 2GB ad & gives us actually interesting content. Big love man thanks for keeping it real
Worse is any unnecessary weight and weight distribution, like high on wagons and too far back on utes. On the opposite end of the scale GVM upgrades on vehicles that just end up riding rough
heaps of spotights that reduce radiator airflow
While I agree wheel spacers are a no no, tell me how do they stress wheel bearings any more than an equivalent offset wheel?
02 -2.5 inches lift + quality suspension & Twin lockers are core weapons👍👍👍
Crazy light set ups. You can get leds that are super bright for your high beams now. If you are just the occassional 4wd they are fine or a beginner on a budget. Really bright too. I have an f150 and changed out the high beams for a high powered led, even has fans in them for cooling. About 1/4 of the price of a lightforce spotty or a light bar. And no splicing in wiring etc. For beginners they are a cheap and worth while upgrade that can be done in about 15 mins. Minimal tools. I would advise not to use them on your low beam though you will get a ticket eventually as they are illegal without self leveling headlights. And it pisses people off right into their rear vision mirror so high beams only.
Also feels like a Ronny Dahl episode not going to lie.
Re wheel off sets egzert the same additional pressure on bearings, re spacers , they mist be forged and installed with bolts torqued correctly and a loktite or equal thread sealint, installed by a person having they'll understanding of the process, anything less is dangerous.
I've seen people install roof racks just for looks and never use them. Never even go off road.
Great information Jesse. Probably most important thing you didn't mention was that most of the mods you mentioned are illegal!... wheel spacers, suspension over 2" tall, tyres 2" over std, disconnecting sway bars, etc...
Jesse need a leg sleeve tattoo i recon. Make him look peak off road bogan
Please tag America in here. Half of the country or more buys the dumbest looking wheels, even putting the same style on their sxs's. For some reason they all stick out past the fender. Wheel spacer? why not they would say. Lift it 6 inches? Of course in their minds.
