Never tighten battery terminals. Keep them lost, but not too lose. It's a lot safer if anything goes wrong.

i find screw down (on/off) earth side terminals much faster. plus with several classic cars i turn them off quick to save the battery after each run. g'day from Australia.

Might be time to learn what a battery Isolation switch is and also a thermal fuse rated at the correct amps for the heavy circuit

10 years ago i discovered why the 1955 Wolseley 6/90 we inherited from father in law wouldn't run after a engine bay pressure wash. when he converted it from positive to negative earth he ran the coil power snaked across the firewall - and it was frayed from rubbing on the accelerator linkage that crossed from driver side to passenger side. when i rebuilt the engine i ran a new silicon wire and wrapped it into the wiring loom. a rookie mistake from a guy who was a Navy Engineer lol

I had a car set fire while driving but saved it with a rapid disconnect car was full of smoke . Never found out what it was the car never needed it
