Don't worry if the agapanthus gets droopy. It's just transplant shock. Keep it well watered as it gets adjusted. As a master gardener, I do recommend much deeper beds (6 ft minimum) to accommodate the mature size of the plants. You can always cut new bed lines farther out into the lawn to make that happen.

Maybe it' s not a thing in the US, but in Germany most little kuds have a sandbox in the garden, where they can dig, build,... often just a square meter with a roof (simple tarp) above. My daughters loved it and so does my granddaughter.

Whenever I do transplants, I always cut them down to about 4-6 inches of foliage. This will keep the energy of the plant focused on the roots to keep your plant healthy while it adjusts to the new area. It’s not going to be beautiful this year. But next year it will have strong root system and the plant will be beautiful. 🌱 I planted Peonies in my front yard about 4 years ago but they never flowered! So I transplanted them last year in early spring to my back yard because it gets morning & afternoon sunlight and they are so BIG about 3 1/2 feet tall and the blooms are at least 5 inches around, dark burgundy 🌺 I had no idea they were such a beautiful color. I’m so happy I transplanted them 👍

Hydrangeas will turn a different color depending on soil acidity. That may not stay pink.

You can SPLIT your plants in half at the root. Double, triple them. Whenever they get large. Make your garden burst 💥
