When we first moved to Northeast China, a trip like this would have meant spending 12 hours on a sleeper train. These days, with high-speed rail reaching even smaller cities, it’s a comfortable journey of just a few hours. What made it even better was having my mum and stepdad here to keep the kids entertained for the entire trip, while Nicole and I actually got to sit back and relax for once.

What impressed me the most when i took the high speed train from Chong Qing to Cheng Du, was not only how fast it was, but also how smooth the ride was. No bumps or jerkiness. My Ma gets motion sickness easily and she was perfectly fine in the high speed train.
