It’s not a Lighter, it’s a finger flasher, which is a tool many magicians use to catch flash cotton or flash paper on fire, and the card wasn’t switched out, because it’s paper, and because of the flash cotton, it will burn quickly with the cotton, but sometimes doesn’t work.
Next time around, he should contact the Referee to bring a yellow card made of edible paper and EAT IT

Yeah so the “lighter” is not really a lighter, it is supposed to be some device used by magicians so burn stuff. He has a video up where he says it is similar to a lighter but different, and it uses bottom balls as fuel to make the explosion bigger.
