The German dub of movies I watched as a kid are so nostalgic to me that I simply cannot enjoy them in English 😅

Bud spencer & terence hill movies dubbed in german are legendary

Wait until he finds out about the Bud Spencer movies. There were so many voice lines that the Germans just made up, which makes these movies so popular.

Germany also did german intro songs for animes. Like the original yu gi oh, pokemon etc.

Some dubbed movies or TV shows became even more successfull in Germany, than anywhere else, because of the dubbing being especially funny and adding their own twist like "Die 2" (The Persuaders) or the Terence Hill and Bud Spencer Italo Westerns.

German Dub is elite in most things I watch

Those are two different styles of dubbing, though: In the first one you showed, you don't hear the original voice. The one with you in it is used for interviews or other things, where they want you to hear that there's an original voice, but give you a translation alongside it. I'm not sure if that style is still called dubbing 🤔

You don't notice the dubs when you're growing up with them - but once you start watching the originals, it's hard to go back.

A dubbing can change the quality of a movie in good and in a worse way! Best example is an old crime series called in German: “Die 2” (original title: “The Persuaders“). I loved this series due to the funny phrases. A few year later I was in a pupil exchange in England. I was so excited and full of joy to see it in the original language. My guest parents stared at me in disbelief and utter astonishment and said: „This is the most boring series ever.“ OMG!!! They were right! The original version is really a terrible crap!!!

Dubbed. 1000%. I could watch OT, but the audio quality of the dubbing and the quality in general is just so much better, since it is recorded in a studio. And even though i would say i am almost fluent in english, it is still easier to watch something in your native language. And sometimes i would even say, the dubbing surpasses the original, like spongebob or south park. And oftentimes a mediocre performance of the original actor can be saved by the high quality german dubbing, since the voice actors are still professional actors and know their craft.

That's a thing that I really love about star wars, every character always has the same voice, Anakin in the prequel trilogy has the same voice as Anakin in the clone wars, same as Ahsoka in the clone wars, rebels, Mandalorian, book of boba fett, tales of the jedi and the Ahsoka show. Except when a voice actor dies obviously.

Fun Fact: John Stamos und Gollum haben denselben Synchronsprecher, nämlich Andreas Fröhlich.

With few exceptions, I prefer the original. Sid in Ice Age voiced by Otto is one of the exceptions. 😂
