My Climate Action Journey - From Remote Islands to COP31 | Fitroh Awaludin | Indonesia

Activism

For the past four years, I have been actively involved in volunteer work across remote islands and underserved communities in Indonesia. Through these journeys, I learned how deeply indigenous knowledge, local culture, and environmental resilience are connected. This video tells the story behind Sokola Alam Project, a grassroots education initiative I founded in 2024 to create contextual learning spaces for children and young people based on the realities of their own communities. Through learning games, illustrated modules, and collaborations with local and indigenous communities, Sokola Alam Project seeks to make climate education more accessible, meaningful, and rooted in local knowledge. Looking ahead, I plan to develop BANNA MARAPU an art collective and climate learning initiative inspired by indigenous weaving communities in Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara, focusing on natural dyes, ecological resilience, and contextual learning for indigenous youth across Indonesia. Because climate action should not only exist in global discussions, but also live within classrooms, villages, traditions, and everyday community life.
