Washington State’s groundbreaking policy to reduce carbon emissions is the Climate Commitment Act (CCA), enacted by the 2024 Legislature and immediately challenged by an initiative to repeal it. Climate Solutions led a campaign to save the Act, and an overwhelming majority of citizens voted to keep it. The 2026 Legislature, faced with a budget deficit, eyed the Climate funds for other purposes but the fund survived.
