Welcome to Day 13 of the 28-Day Data Science Bootcamp! After nearly two weeks of mastering Python, pandas, SQL, and foundational math, it is time to put your skills to the test. Today, we focus on escaping "tutorial purgatory" by starting to build a standout portfolio using real-world datasets. A completed project does something a certificate cannot: it shows an employer exactly what you can do with messy, real-world data . In this video, we will walk through the setup and execution of two beginner-friendly portfolio projects: Data Science Survey Analysis: Using the Kaggle ML & DS Survey dataset, we will answer questions about what tools working data scientists actually use and which skills come up most in job postings . You will practice loading the data, standardizing inconsistent responses, handling nulls, and creating frequency tables and bar charts to surface your findings . COVID-19 Data Exploration: Using the comprehensive Our World in Data COVID-19 dataset, you will build a visualization-heavy Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) . We will explore how to filter time series data, calculate rates per 100,000 people, and build multi-country comparison charts . You will also learn how to add rolling 7-day averages to smooth out reporting noise and annotate key events directly onto your charts . Grab your datasets and let's start translating your foundational skills into a tangible portfolio that proves your capabilities!
