I have a theory that Season 3 will be terrain wars, in the same way that season 1-2 was weather wars. That would mean adding in pincurchin, rillaboom, indeedee and galarian weezing I think it could also mean more megas getting terrain triggering abilities. Perhaps psychic surge Malamar ?

I see mega raichu x to be a supporter, because of aloia raichu ability. Raichu y on the other hand is going to a little broken because of it not missing focus miss, compare it with nasty plot and it will one shot kingabit no problem.
I'm pretty excited for these megas. At first the stats of Raichu X weren't really speaking to me but the fact that we finally have another decent Electric Terrain setter is actually gonna be good. Also No Guard Zap Cannon is absolutely nuts.

Throwing this in here’s cause it’s funny, someone pointed out Max SpA investment Rai-X using Rising voltage does like 10% more over Rai-Y Zap Canon But what’s funnier, is that base Raichu has lightning rod & fakeout So switch Raichu in on a electric move, or fake out Rai with discharge ally, boom, +1 on either Raichu X or Y
I think it's probably a good idea to run it alongside scarf ninetails, so blizzard can cover ground, grass or dragon swap ins. or freeze dry a potential scarf basc.
Raichu y could be a insane partner with dozogiri because of zap cannon nuking but for the few that survive it essentially setups the ideal situation for dondozo

Raichu does get Upper Hand. It could be a decent check for Kingambits, but it is a pretty weak move. Manual Rain setting, Knock Off, Encore, Sub. It’s got utility, but it’s not the most bulky. Y just looks too squishy to be worth using unless you pair it with priority blocking. Even then, its moves are largely single target.

I feel like Mega Raichu X could pop off in a format with both Megas and Paradoxes, assuming said format doesn't also allow Miraidon.
Raichu X is future proofed because it gives Future Paradox Pokemon an ability. Y had a 120 BP speed control move with Zap Cannon

I think Raichu x might be like tapu Koko where it's a special attacker despite having a higher attack stat, since it gets rising voltage and barely has any HP for the volt tackle recoil
