The movie is called "Dog". It's about a German Shepherd that served time overseas and began mentally declining after her owner, Riley, died. She became very aggressive. The guy took her to Riley's funeral and treated her well along the way. He was supposed to turn her in so she could be put down, but he had grown so attached to her and ran away with her. After that, he taught her how to play and used her old training as play instead of just work. Good movie. Good crying, feel-good movie. The dog does not die at the end, if I remember correctly. Edit: For the dozens of people yelling at me that it is a Belgian Malinois, I apologize. There is no need to get so angry and rude about it. Based on the coloration pattern and thickness of the coat, I thought it was a German Shepherd and not a Belgian Malinois. I am fully aware that Malinois typically have much thinner coats and after re-watching I realized that. Please stop yelling at me. Also, it's been a while since I watched the movie full through, so I am sorry if I got a few things wrong.

I never saw this movie but there was a book I read when I was kid “Cracker: The Best Dog in Vietnam” and it made me cry so hard. I saw the trailer for this movie and was instantly reminded of that book. I can’t watch this movie man 😂
