Thanks guys, I'm not a mechanic, but watching your videos has inspired me to have a go just recently my Peugeot van threw up loads of fault lights, so I bought a Thinkcar scanner like I've seen Rob using, it told me the ABS sensor on back wheel was faulty, got a new one for £16 from GSF car parts and fitted it myself (Peugeot dealer wanted £250 to fix it. Then my wife smashed her Renault Kadjar doors into a bollard in a car park, I got two doors 'in colour' from a local scrap yard and fixed it myself, so no need for an insurance claim. Thanks Chris and Rob for inspiring me to do my own automotive repairs and save a ton of cash.
Just a tip I learned about spot welding drill bits over the 30yrs doing bodywork. After spending £££ I now use a normal metal hss drill bit but I've adapted it to a more less angle on the bit end. Lasts 20 times longer I just resharpen the bit. And use a air chisel to split the panel. I've not bought one since

Gotta love a scrappy! Some good times spent standing on cars hunting for parts in pouring down rain. Like a kid in sweet shop i call it a day down the theme park coming back smiling knowing you got what you need and at a cheap price most 9 times out of ten.

A good little speech by Chris there about how difficult sourcing the right parts at the right prices is, it'll hopefully shut the muppets up who say "huh huh, Rob does nowt!". Certainly hit the jackpot on parts this time.

completely agree with your thoughts on sourcing parts and "beating the system" and using recycled bits on these repairs, it adds so much cost to insurance that they only use new parts and then write off cars - my car had a rear end and they quoted £7k in parts, it needed a bumper and I found one in colour for £150 they could of used, but they said no, went with a professional body shop - madness and such a waste - especially as the driver that hit me was insured with them as well! I'd be happy with salvaged parts if they incentivize it and share the cost benefit (or discount insurance if you've opted in to "green repairs") - I reckon the industry itself would lobby against it as the whole racket would collapse if they couldn't add markup on markup
