Looking for a deal on the new Denza B5: https://car.expert/4uaNsHN See all CarExpert Hot Deals → https://car.expert/42MUtCU We’ve FINALLY had the chance to get behind the wheel of the Denza B5 Leopard. While originally we wanted to do a comprehensive review that included off-road driving, unfortunately it never happened. The car suffered a catastrophic failure of a piece of underbody protection and as a result had to be towed away because it was unsafe to drive. Looking to buy a new car? I have owned a B5L for around 5 months , my experience and thoughts of this vehicle is opposite to Paul's , however I respect his oppinion , Paul can only judge on what he is driving My B5L on the 82Ltr tank I think it is , when i travel and set SOC to 70 % and use HEV, the car achieves around the 940klm a tank I only use EV locally , I can go all week without using fuel , I do have a single phase Home Charger which generates 7.4Kwh , so around 4 hours from a depleted battery to 100% All my fuctions work , including ICC etc etc etc etc My drive comfort , quality or ride is again opposite to what is discussed in this content I dont Tow with the Leopard for all the reasons Paul has suggested ,that part I do agree with ,however I did not purchase this vehicle for that reason , If I was purchasing with Caravan and or other heavy Trailor use I would purchase a longer wheel base with a V6 Diesel minimum Off road this thing is amazing , however concerning about that underplate , this car i feel had excessive wear ant tear , that plate should be bolted up under the front plate so it cant be ripped back like that anyway ?? , that was wierd I will finish by saying I have watched nearly every review on the Denza B5 Leopard , this review by CarExpert is not consistent with other reviews
hold me closer, tiny Denza
Are we talking about the same car? .. we own one and this review has definitely not been our experience at all .. not even close .. what is it with Paul and BYD ? We drove the Prado and then the Denza and bought the latter in a heartbeat .. thats how night and day it was. Offroad its a beast and has an awesome 3 yr record overseas to back itself up .. ride is awesome after applying custom settings .. we get 100-120kms on a full battery in pure EV mode and average 8.5 - 9.0 kms per litre and around 900 to 1000kms range .. the Denza moves effortlessly in traffic and highway cruising compared to most legacy car brands given its massive power and torque outputs.
Haha, spoiler alert... he absolutely hates it. 😂😂
Good reviews, no excuse for Denza to have those issues. The top spec Denza B5L costs $1500 less than Tank 300 Ultra PHEV in China. In Australia, its $27K more than the Tank! You would expect the ADAS and suspensions are properly tuned at very least.
Thanks Paul for this review, seems like the car needs some work, glad you called it out for what it is and didn’t do the typical car journalist thing of continuing on like nothing happened
slap a Ford badge on it and he will LOVE it!
That car has been used offroad hard for social media post. Probably thats why
Now that I have finished watching video, guarantee this car has been getting flogged, someone has damaged it , were the bolts removed, I’d doubt just come out. Like the Superduty there was a failure which was same car that had been through the wringer.
I clicked out of curiosity, but stayed till the end
Denza's fault for not inspecting the car and fixing any issues prior to handing over to CarExpert, however I feel like Paul is blowing it out of proportion. I think it would have come across better if CarExpert got it fixed, continued the offroad section and tried to reproduce the problem again. Any car can be broken given the right circumstances. The throttle response on the B5 isn't great. I wish more reviewers would talk about things like that more than the superficial things.
Your face when the car told you TWICE to keep eyes on the road 😂😂😂
lol yes that’s a problem. But it’s very minor. Dude is making it out like it’s the end of the world. Also surprised he doesn’t understand the Denzas competition the way he talked about price. So much for a car expert.
You would think that the leading edge of the bash plate that failed would be tucked under the front panel rear edge like roof tiles on a house, so in a water crossing etc. there's no chance of a force peeling it back as happened here.
I do respect Paul’s opinions in his videos and have watched for many years. I couldn’t help but feel that Paul had a biases opinion to this vehicle for some reason. I have watched other contributors which had glowing reviews. Maybe this particular vehicle was a non starter.
Paul had a bad sleep and an average poo before doing this review, I think.
To be fair, Prado only has 50kg more payload when towing. Towing capacity on all vehicles is a joke.
The condition of those bash plates seem to say it was absolutely flogged off road by a previous driver.
Don’t love the colour - it’s the same as your jumper 😂
Hi Paul is it possible you could acquire a different example and see if the issues (ride, fuel economy, lane keep functionality) persist?
